Flour Free Keto Chocolate Collagen Mug Cake | Keto Dessert Recipes

keto chocolate collagen mug cake

This keto chocolate collagen mug cake is flour-free and loaded with 20 grams keto friendly collagen protein. AND this simple recipe can be made in less than 5 minutes! That said, it is hard to go wrong with this healthy and delicious low-carb chocolate collagen mug cake.

In addition to the collagen protein, this keto chocolate mug cake is full of keto friendly fats. It contains both saturated fats from the butter as well as healthy monounsaturated fats from the avocado oil. When on the ketogenic diet it is important to consume your protein with a good amount of fat.

Why Use Collagen Protein In Keto Mug Cake?

The reason I use collagen protein powder in this recipe is that collagen is easy to digest and has many potential health benefits. Collagen is often referred to as the glue that holds your body together. This is because collagen plays an important role in joint and soft tissue health. In addition, the amino acid glycine in collagen has been shown to be beneficial in gut health.

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and is important for your skin, hair, and nails as well. Unlike dairy protein, people are a lot less likely to have allergic reactions to collagen. This is why I have also decided to make this keto chocolate mug cake flour-free as well.

Though I personally like to add pecan pieces to this recipe, they are completely optional. Without the pecan pieces, you can make this keto chocolate collagen mug nut-free as well!

Keto Chocolate Collagen Mug Cake Macros

The calories and macros are equated without the use of pecan pieces. In addition, I use Perfect Keto Unflavored Collagen ( use coupon code KETODESSERT15 for 15% off first purchase )which contains MCTs and extra fat that many brands do not contain. You can use other brands of collagen peptides, however, you will need to adjust your macros accordingly.

The entire mug cake contains roughly 487 calories, 38.6 grams of fat, 37.6 total carbs, 5.2 net carbs, and 27.1 grams of protein. Net carbs are equated by subtracting fiber and erythritol from total carbs. This mug cake is very filling and can easily be split into two servings. Since the collagen protein is very filling this low-carb mug cake is a great choice for a quick breakfast as well!
